For Mercy

In Memoriam of Mercy

Mercy was an ambitious and highly motivated young lady whose life was cut short in June 2022. She suffered a road traffic accident on the Lekki Epe expressway in Lagos and was transported to hospital swiftly. After moving from one hospital to another due to cost considerations, she ended up in LASUTH where she struggled to find a bed.

She finally got a bed but that wasn't to be the end of her travails. She complained of ongoing pain and was treated with painkillers. Her blood pressure dropped and she eventually passed away. The hospital had missed the internal bleeding from the blunt trauma of the seatbelt. Had this bleeding been recognized early enough, Mercy would have had a scan that would have spotted the bleeding, she would have had emergency surgery to arrest the bleeding and she may still be alive today.

This website is in memoriam to her and to put efforts together to ensure no other young person loses their life in hospital after surviving a road traffic accident.
